I assure you that Mexico deeply appreciates its sovereignty. The recent inauguration of President Claudia Sheinbaum, elected by clear majority of Mexicans to carry on "the Fourth Transformation" testifies to this.

Since you have read the whole article upto the last statement, allow me to retain the same thought process and give you some theoretical arguments based on historical or current data points You are free to agree/disagree or counter my argument. And pls correct me if my assumptions are off target.

1. Many of the American conservative patriots are saying 1776 in 2024. But they dont realize that in 1776, America was much smaller than what it is today. Present day America has become this big after gobbling up nearby territories over 250 years, including areas from Mexico. Of course, today's border demarcation is pretty much settled and the next generation of Mexicans dont have that much knowledge of their historical territories compared to the present or previous generation of Mexicans (my assumption).

2. My second assumption - Mexican government has a better working relationship with the state administration of the 4 American border states vis-a-vis the US Federal Administration (46+4 border states). In the extreme hypothetical scenario of a divided states of america (somewhat similar to the economic collapse of USSR) - Mexico would be better off dealing with the 4 states of America instead of the entire 50 states collectively.

3. Mexico is the doorway for the US to enter the South American continent as a whole. So the US will definitely increase its pressure tactics on Mexico as the de$ process evolves. Of course Mexico can still join the BRICS payment systems for smoother trade settlements among Global South countries w/o joining the BRICS+ as a full time member. At the same time, you can continue using the current western financial system for settlements with the US. So Mexico also has the capacity to act as a bridge between the BRICS & Global South and the US/West. In a worst case scenario - if there is a conflict of sorts between West and the BRICS - Mexico could be one the key players that contribute in reducing the tensions/frictions.

From a sovereignty perspective, a strong and consistent leadership of the Mexican govt is critical on multiple fronts.

We have the start of a "strong & consistent leadership" at last, as the aims of out-going President AMLO mostly coincide with Presidenta Sheinbaum, a first in Mexico's history. That's why this moment is celebrated.

U$a hasn't needed to use Mexico to access, invade & destroy nations in Central or South America. Many Mexicans are well aware that most of the western states once were part of Mexico. Mexicans DO learn their history. In addition, thousands of Mexicans live in that area today. If the U$a begins to fall apart, many "americans" will likely wish to move to Mexico, in an ironic "twist of fate." What Mexico decides to do about all those gringo migrants in that imagined eventuality will be interesting to watch. Mexico's sovereignty is becoming established in the hearts & minds of the people & will only grow as the global majority gains strength.

Where is the sovereignty there? It is more like a political arrangement for marketing purposes only.

Perhaps the Indian juggernaut could kick the Americans off Guantanamo Bay! 😀
