BRICS' Bold Vision: AI innovation meets environmental stewardship. Rio Summit declaration pushes for inclusive AI governance and sustainable development in a multipolar world.
Sadly, in my opinion, Australia continues on its memory of colonial days and subservience to the "mother" land (UK) and the "father" land (USA). Geographically, Australia is an Asian land mass being far isolated from Europe and North America. However, as a former Australian Prime , Paul Keating, once said "...Australia's security lies within Asia..." and that is where our diplomatic, trade and cultural interests should be directed. Australia could do well to cut the choking financial ties with UK and USA and seek a co-operative co-existence with our Asian neighbours. Membership of the BRICS organisation would open many new opportunities for both Australia and our Asian neighbours.
I agree with your sentiment. Maybe BRICS can invite Australia and New Zealand to be a guest at a future event. Maybe if New Zealand joins as a BRICS partner it might make it easier for Australia.
Australia is a dialouge partner with ASEAN but not a full member. Full membership could be part of a 10 year plan. That could be a stepping stone.
How do you see BRICS enabling a brighter future for the region?
Also, hah, wait until Australia gets hit with USA tarrifs, that might grease the wheels. I think that the « uh, shall we say, variability » from the US is helping to restructure the world into a multipolarity structure.
As an American citizen, I have given up on this American 2.0 dominate-the-world Trumpian dystopia. I am working on America 3.0 which fits into a multipolar world. Because if America can’t figure out this international networking situation and the internal rights of her citizens, the she will slip into isolation and her own Dark Ages.
Thank you for writing, I appreciate your thoughts.
Great piece. Thanks for the update.
What an effin waste for a whole summit to be wasted on ai and the environment.
